WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling is a supportive, confidential process that helps you understand yourself better, so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

WHO DO I WORK WITH?

I work with adults and young people (age 13+) experiencing all types of anxiety for kinds of reasons.

Whether the cause of anxiety is school or work related stress, a relationship issue, pregnancy, loss, bereavement, physical ill health, a traumatic event or something else, I offer you the opportunity to become more at ease within your body and mind - freeing you up to make the changes you want to see within yourself and your life.

You might recognise yourself in terms like general anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, imposter syndrome, people pleasing, procrastination, low self‑esteem, avoidance, self‑doubt, overthinking, rumination, or burnout.

Please know, it is possible for the way you experience anxiety now to become a thing of the past.

It is possible to be more at peace — physically relaxed, confident, and outgoing.

It is possible to sleep better, think more clearly, make better decisions, and reach personal goals.

HOW DO I HELP?

I offer a warm, steady, and non‑judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on.

Together we look at what triggers your anxiety, how it affects you, and what keeps it going. I help you develop practical tools to calm your nervous system, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build confidence — supporting you to manage difficult moments until those moments begin to fade into the past.

A core belief in my practice is that mind and body work as one — I believe that every part of you is involved in every experience. Working with me means that the whole of you will be acknowledged: your thoughts, your emotions, and your physical and spiritual experience.

Depending on your needs, our sessions may include:

• Psychoeducation

• Exploring emotions to allow expression, understanding, acceptance, and ease

• Examining unhelpful beliefs to reduce their power, shift behaviour, or calm the mind

• Body‑focused dialogue (somatic focus) to deepen self‑awareness, increase feelings of safety, or support relaxation

• Creative approaches to help you connect with your inner wisdom

The way we work together will always depend on you and your situation. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches — including Person‑Centred Therapy, Compassion‑Focused Therapy, Body‑Focused methods, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). We can talk, we can explore, and we can get creative. There is always a way forward.

RESEARCH

It is now well researched and documented that in order for psychological approaches (counselling) to be more effective in helping people to recover from stress, anxiety and trauma, they must include a focus on the body to support psychological regulation and body mind integration. I am highly experienced in working with the body, both physically through the therapeutic touch of shiatsu and verbally through different forms of body focused verbal dialogue.
